Jamie Ivey is the author of three books about the south of France. He lives near the village of Lourmarin in the Luberon with his wife and daughter. As well as editing Blue Sky Living and running a small rosé business he is currently working on a fourth book about missing vintage wine. Jamie's books have been published in the UK, the USA, Holland and China. Before becoming a writer Jamie was a corporate lawyer in the City of London. He has no regrets about giving up the rat race....
Jamie's first book Extremely Pale Rosé tells the story of the quest for the palest rosé in France. As a result of a bet with a Provencal vigneron - Madame Etienne - Jamie and his wife Tanya give up their jobs in London and embark on a light hearted journey through all the major wine producing regions of France, continually looking for the palest pink wine each region has to offer. Their challenge - to find the palest bottle in the country by the time the September harvest starts at Chateau Etienne.
The New York Times described Jamie's debut as "Great fun to read...particularly if you enjoy sticking your nose into little known corners of France."
Jamie's second book La Vie en Rosé tells the story of how he and his wife quit London for good and moved to France to try and set up a revolutionary new theme bar - a bar with a wine list exclusively composed of rosé. They travel throughout the south, moving from Aix to Uzes and from Nimes to Juan Les Pins, searching for the perfect location to chalk up their wine list of France's favourite pinks.
The Daily Mail commented that Jamie was "a younger Peter Mayle with a similar turn of phrase"
Jamie's third book Rosé en Marché tells the story of a year spent working in the Provencal markets selling pink wine. In a behind the scenes look at these southern French institutions Jamie reveals the truth behind the multicoloured stalls and parasols as he describes his struggle to get a place in the busy summer markets and his fluctuating relationship with the all powerful police municipal.
